Our 3rd Week...Already?

We have already made it to our 3rd week of 1st grade! WOW! We have been reviewing letters, sounds, sight words, numbers, counting, and more. We have one more big review week, then we are off and running with the first unit and week of typical lessons in our new reading program by MacMillan. I am so excited. I hope your child has had a great time in school so far...if so, just wait until they start learning even more! They are going to LOVE it!

WELCOME!

Welcome to 1st grade! We have had a great start to our 2010-2011 school year. I have enjoyed getting to know my new students. They are doing well and getting to know our routines. I look forward to working with them everyday!

New School Year!

Here comes a new school year! Last year's blog attempt was interrupted early in the school year... This year, I am hoping to continue a great classroom blog with a lot of interesting and useful information!

Reminders This Week:

• SEP's are Tuesday & Wednesday from 4:00-8:00.
• Book Orders Due by Thursday, September 3rd.
• Homework Due by Thursday, September 3rd.
• No School Friday, September 4th and Monday, September 7th.

Tips On Safety From A Local Police Officer

On Wednesday August 19th, we had a special visitor in our classroom.  A police officer came in and talked with our first graders about safety in our homes, neighborhoods, and schools.  After the discussion, the students were allowed to try on some of the "special gear" police officers need in order to keep themselves and others safe.  Here are just a few of the pictures we took during his visit.  Safety is part of the first grade core curriculum.
